ABLOY
OPERATING PRINCIPLES

CLASSIC ABLOY® locks are based on the unique operating principle of rotating discs cylinder. Inside the ABLOY® lock, a series of disc tumblers rotate and scramble like the tumblers in a safe. Only the correct key will rotate each disc to align the side bar gates on all discs. After all the discs are aligned in the correct opening combination, the locking bar will drop into the aligned slot allowing the lock to open. To withdraw the key, it must be turned in the reverse direction until it stops. This will mechanically scramble the discs. |
ABLOY EXEC® locks are based on the same unique operating principle as the CLASSIC ABLOY lock. However, the discs for the ABLOY EXEC are controlled by an Advanced Disc Steering System. This disc steering system contributes to an easy, smooth operation. The major difference offered in the ABLOY EXEC is an improved, user-friendly function. When operating an ABLOY EXEC lock, the key will not turn until it is completely inserted into the keyway. At this point, mechanically operated parts inside the lock allow key to turn. |
